|Hsinchu Science Park is an important base for Taiwan's high-tech industries. With the development of manufacturing technology, the development of green production and circular economy has always been an important topic of Hsinchu Science Park. In order to promote waste reduction and develop the circular economy, Hsinchu Science Park Bureau has held the selection of "The Award for waste reduction and circular economy" to recognize companies that perform well. The evaluation is divided into two groups in 2020 depending on the amount of waste.
The competition this year is quite fierce. It is not easy for these manufacturers to promote environmental protection and economic development at the same time. Thank all participating manufacturers for their efforts, and look forward to more manufacturers to join in green production.

Winners in Group A：
A. High Distinction Award：Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Ltd. - Advanced IC Packaging and Testing Plant III
Through the development and introduction of regeneration technologies, Advanced Packaging and Testing Plant III reaches the goal of zero outbound copper-containing liquid waste and zero output of hazardous sludge.
B. High Distinction Award：Macronix International Co., Ltd.-Fab 5
Fab 5 commits to the development of green productivities, reduces the amount of waste sulfuric acid produced, and uses waste IPA as a nutrient source (carbon source) to the sewage treatment biological system.
C. High Distinction Award：Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp.- Fab 8A
Implement chemical management to control the amount of raw materials and waste, Fab 8A reduces the amount of raw materials usage and the output of waste. It also sets up an IPA waste liquid separation collection system.
D. Excellence Award：Wafer Works Corp. SBIP Branch
The wafer cutting oil recovery efficiency reaches 75% when the recovery machine set up in Wafer Works Corp. SBIP Branch. Besides, it also reduces the output of non-hazardous sludge (silicon carbide).
E. Excellence Award：Innolux Corporation-T2 Plant
The stripper waste is recovered through the SRS (stripper reclaim system), Innolux Corporation-T2 Plant uses different physical boiling points to distill and separate the photoresist from high and low impurity matters, and then reuse it into the process.
Winners in Group B：
A. High Distinction Award：Global Wafers Co., Ltd.- Zhunan Plant
Wafer scraps and chip scraps are recycled through the furnace to reduce the output wastes. The oil mist discharged from the air pollution control equipment is collected and reused into the pump of wafer growing. Thus, Zhunan Plant achieves the maximum benefit of waste reduction, energy and resource conservation and resource recovery.
B. High Distinction Award：Global Wafers Co., Ltd.
Global Wafers Co., Ltd. introduces the energy management system (ISO-50001) to reduce the output waste of wafers and chips. The waste recycling system includes "cutting oil recycling and reuse", "waste graphite crucible as steelmaking additives", "gold-plated water recycling" etc.
C. Excellence Award：Nuvoton Technology Corp.
The amount of waste chip, the consumption of photoresist, the liquid waste and the consumption of sulfuric acid are reduced by wafer dicing technology and the optimization of operation.
D. Excellence Award：Sino-American Silicon Products Inc.- Chunan Branch
Using diamond cutting instead of silicon carbide with cutting oil, Chunan Branch can increase unit wafer productivity. It can also reduce raw material usage, energy consumption and waste production. These processes recycle wafer scraps and fragments, and remelt them into crystal ingot products.
